Temptings recommendations

Another fantastic dish was the seared tuna dish (89 NIS), red tuna server on noodles with dried tomatoes and avocado and a serving of fried sweet potato. This was probably the best dish, both in taste and in matters of presentation, well, maybe the dessert looked better, but it is a dessert after all.

I lose touring Jerusalem, and especially at night. There are several tourist areas, and one of them is the German colony (''hamoshava hagenrmanit''). I just love walking the streets, looking at people passing by, and the old restored buildings on both sides of the street.

Having set a date to meet a friend there tonight, I decided to enter a bookstore and browse for some books until he arrives. My friend soon arrived and it turns out he knows one of the employees in the store. We stood there chatting for some time, and she recommended we drop by Pituim, just a few blocks away, because they have ''the most amazing food and desserts''. Well, we couldn't ignore such a recommendation, could we ?

Pituim (temptations) turned out to be a restaurant/coffeehouse/confectionary/bakery. Dafna, the owner and chef, explains that she opened the place eight years ago, and has debated which way to go ever since. There are so many coffeehouses along the main German Colony road, that it's really hard to choose one, but Pituim does have a lot of extra value. Yes, you could just get your coffee and leave, but you could also try some of the amazing cakes that are on display, or have a Cr?me br?l?e (24 NIS), that is served on a large plate, partially filled with mixed chocolate sauces, decorated with hearts and flowers in various tasty colors, and in the middle of it all – the cr?me br?l?e itself, with a pile of small chocolate chips and another multicolored chocolate bar sticking up next to them… That makes about 8 different kinds of chocolates on the plate, possibly more… I was too busy eating to count properly.

You could also have a breakfast, lunch, or dinner in Pituim, the menu has a wide selection of very interesting dishes, and specials every day.

We immediately got a hot loaf of bread, straight from the over, with a dried tomato and basil butter and several dips. For starters we had a dish of phyllo dough triangles filled with bri cheese and pear cooked in red wine, served on a myriad of fresh lettuce leaves with a citrus vinaigrette sauce and berries (37 NIS), we also had a dish of eggplant rolls (36 NIS). This is a dish consisted on 3 large eggplants sliced fried in olive oil, each has a slice of goat cheese spread on it, and a slice fried pepper spread with pesto, all this is rolled and tied with an string (well, something green and tasty anyhow). The dish is served with a fresh green salad, and a variety of sauces. What can I say, the presentation of this dish was amazing, and so was the taste.

For our main course we had a lasagna dish (48 NIS), and yes, it's made from B?chamel sauce, just like it's supposed to be. With mushrooms, tomato spread and mozzarella.

What can I say – I must go back to that bookstore again, maybe they know of some other good restaurants around...

Bon appetit !
