It’s not just the huge selection of beers, the quality of the food, the meticulous serving style, or the diverse clientele. There is something about the atmosphere of the Haifa-based “Beit HaBira” (Beer House) and its level of service which make it a home not just for the beer but for the customers, as well.
“The Asado is a cut of beef intended for advanced meat-eaters only. Each bite requires some investment, but in the end – supreme satisfaction.” Shai Vaknin wishes to extend his gratitude to the Jewish Agency, thanks to which Marcello Morgenfeld came to Israel, and opened a great restaurant called Morgenfeld Steak House in Liman (a Moshav in Israel).
Nadav Avidan searches the depths of his tipsy mind for details of his visit to Bugsy, a bistro-bar located in Tel Aviv’s Florentin neighborhood: There was a bar there. There was good food. There were beers, cocktails, shots, and assorted spirits. It was fun. Luckily, he wrote down his impressions while he was there.
“And so it began: blady eggplant, garlic bread, mushroom and camembert empanadas, artichoke with red-tuna tartar…” Nadav Avidan tried to convince Kobi Martziano, the chef at Jerusalem’s Sol restaurant, to move in to his flat and cook for him every day. He failed. Jerusalemites – his loss is your gain.
“We both savor the salty, fresh, and fluffy pastries. I develop an addiction for the taste of the one with the sun-dried tomatoes; she, for her part, thoroughly devours the cheese filled ones until not even a crumb remains…” Daniel Rom discovered anew the joy of Friday, in the “Hemda Ugot” (“Hemda Cakes”) confectionery.
Ok. The food. Have I said fresh? The Greengrocer’s Pearl Salad came with 4 little pine-nut covered cheese balls on a bed of lettuce, with mushrooms (fresh) fried in virgin olive oil. It is a refreshing dish, suitable for a light snack or appetizer. They even smoke their own salmon here and the smoked salmon sandwich is a real delicacy. Make sure to ask about the dish of the day which when I visited, was freshly ground fish cakes with homemade couscous.
HaYam HaSini restaurant, which serves traditional quality Chinese food with a touch of Israeli taste, is offering two lunch business menus and one evening business menu. Despite the rain and the cold weather, banks was packed. This was on a weekday, a Tuesday to be exact. Not your typical night for going out, but there's something about this place that attracts a crowd even on a stormy midweek's night. Maybe it's the entertainment attractions - Sunday night they have live performances; Tuesday night is eighties night (with a little help from the seventies and nineties).
''With art, atmosphere, hospitality, expertly prepared food, and the sure vision of its owner imbued throughout, Boccaccio delivers a memorable dining experience. Buon appetito!''
''The steak of L’Entrecote is jubilation for meat-lovers: thick, ‘chewy’ and very succulent…'' Shifra Zach and her husband refused to share a steak, one that carries the name of the Tel Aviv restaurant. Considering the quality of the meal, it is quite understandable
So, to sum things up, the food here is excellent and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. If you live in the area, this is a good choice to make into your regular place. If you’re just passing through on your way to Tel Aviv, stop off, kick back and relax. Have a coffee and a bite to eat. If you’re not from around the neighborhood, come anyway. It is well worth the trip.
These four wonderful and interesting dishes were unusual and innovative food selection for an Israeli Pub and we were delighted and enjoyed our evening out. Eventually we haven't finished most of the food that was served because the dishes were quite big and we wanted to leave a room for the desert. The desert selection was much smaller but it was all right.
Michal Zamrany returned from Havat HaTavlinim, where she ate, among other things, ''a dish of stuffed appetizers which constitutes a celebration of taste. Excellent, excellent, excellent…''
Primavera, sheraton hotel restaurant in Jerusalem (Kosher), suggests this week business deal...

Eggplant is a vegetable wildly used in many oriental dishes. I can assure you no traditional will ever taste like, or be called, ''Eggplant carpaccio spiced by a hot tomato salsa, garlic, and olive oil'' (27 NIS). The ingredients can be found in any kitchen, especially in an oriental one, but the end result is a surprise in both taste and looks.
Another fantastic dish was the seared tuna dish (89 NIS), red tuna server on noodles with dried tomatoes and avocado and a serving of fried sweet potato. This was probably the best dish, both in taste and in matters of presentation, well, maybe the dessert looked better, but it is a dessert after all.
Bell wood bar offers a complete dinner menu, as well as light snacks. But the specialty is, of course, the drinks. Several Tap beers are offered, such as the Bell Wood bar tap beer (a 4% Belgian beer), 25 NIS for 330 cc, very light and tasty.Weihenstephan (25 NIS for 500 cc). There are also wines, liquors, cocktails, and many other stronger drinks. The place does specialize in Whiskey.
Caf? Monica is popular with both professionals and the tourist crowd. It is not unlikely to find a business meeting happening at a table next to a French couple fresh from the beach.
This is not a fancy restaurant, but a Czech pub with ambiance, good beer and very large portions of tasty eastern European food. With such great value for your money, the welcoming atmosphere and friendly environment, I can see why the place is always packed.
Where to begin? The chicken liver pate, which came on little crackers and a red berry sauce, was exquisite. Soft, full of flavor, it just melts in your mouth. The meat empanadas, little pastries stuffed with ground meat, onions and other goodies were some of the best I have had outside of South America.
Limonim is a Kosher restaurant, specializing in Israeli gourmet food, the idea is the serve delicious, well balanced, presentable dishes, while keeping the original local taste.
No, no justice in the world. The occasion was my birthday. The choice, to celebrate at le relaisjaffa was mine. But the best dishes (in an all celebration meal) were his.
