"This medium to full bodied wine is showing various black and red fruit aromas, black cherries along with various spices and cloves…" Armed with 3 friends and 3 bottles, Yonatan Sternberg tastes up a storm and reveals a buyers tip.

"As I smiled and ate, Evelyn quickly pointed out that the lamb was cooked just how I liked it, so that the meat peels off smoothly. The bulgur was warm and served with pomegranate seeds, making me wonder why my latest bulgur craze has been applied only to tabouleh. Surely warm is much better than cold..." Avigail Lithwick and her culinary twin feed their cravings at Angelica, a kosher fine dining restaurant in Jerusalem.
"A large plate holding lamb chops and mashed potatoes was placed in front of Tomer. The dish was no less than wonderful – a large portion, cooked exactly right, melt in your mouth, and most importantly, providing an entirely pleasurable experience…" Nadav Avidan left his heart at Sima, a home-style restaurant in Tel Aviv.
"For the lighter and younger wines my friend decided to serve both the "Masa Israeli" (Hebrew for 'Israeli Journey') red and white wines which are produced by the Vitkin Winery. Light and refreshing, they went very well with our starters." Yonatan Sternberg is invited to dinner and impressed with his host's Israel wine selections.
"We decided to start off by treating ourselves to sushi 'gold', which comes on the elusive boat, and includes spicy tuna maki, salmon and tuna nigiri, a salmon avocado handroll and more….we tried to pace ourselves while waiting for the dim sum to arrive." Rachel Wagner sends off a visiting Australian and takes advantage of Dim Sum's NIS 86 Sushi Special for 2 in Tel Aviv.
"Not thinking ahead, Inbal and I filled all plates with all the side dishes. Zucchini and sweet potato antipasti that was an amazing and unconventional start to breakfast; stuffed vine leaves; mushroom quiche and corn quiche…" Shiri Tov started off her weekend well with a Friday morning buffet breakfast at Hataim Metukim's café.
"We both agreed that it wouldn't be polite to call up and inquire as to the particular dishes being prepared…so, after brainstorming for a couple of minutes, the perfect wine for the occasion came to me: Galil Mountain, Yiron, 2004!" Once again, Yonatan Sternberg saves the day with his superb recommendation of a blended red.
